Representative Doris Matsui, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 7th District, has recently voiced her concerns about potential policy impacts on American citizens through a series of tweets. Serving in Congress since 2005, Matsui continues to engage with her constituents on pressing issues through various means, including social media.

In a tweet dated April 10, 2025, Matsui highlighted her concerns regarding the potential impact of tariffs proposed by former President Donald Trump. According to her, these tariffs could disrupt the supply chains of essential goods, particularly generic drugs and medical devices, leading to shortages that may endanger patient lives.

Later the same day, Matsui addressed the budget plan advocated by the House GOP. On April 10, 2025, she tweeted that the plan includes significant cuts to Medicaid ($880 billion) and food assistance programs ($230 billion), alongside $7 trillion in tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans. Matsui expressed her disagreement with these measures, stating she voted against the budget, describing it as an attack on families, children, and hard-working citizens.

Continuing her critique of recent legislative developments, Matsui commented on April 11, 2025, regarding the House GOP’s SAVE Act. She stated in a tweet that the act would impose restrictions on voting access. Specifically, it could prevent millions of eligible voters from casting ballots if they lack certain identification documents, such as a passport or a birth certificate with their current legal name. Matsui warned that the SAVE Act poses a threat to voters' fundamental rights.

Doris Matsui has been a representative in the U.S. Congress since 2005, initially taking over from Bob Matsui. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and resides in Sacramento. Her commitment to representing California's 7th District continues as she leverages her platform to address significant political issues affecting her constituents.
