Cost of college went up for non-resident students at Cosumnes River College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Cosumnes River College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,104 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-resident students would have paid 689.1 percent more than residents this year, or $8,712. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 6.1 percent from $8,208 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents. And about 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 72 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 700 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.6 million and 30 students took out student loans totaling more than $156,655.

Including all undergraduates (14,193), 9,365 students used grants or scholarships totaling $22.4 million, and 440 students took out $2.9 million in federal student loans.
