The City’s Department of Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment this summer are providing 146 programs for youth and families across Sacramento.
Offerings include camps, expanded learning programs, aquatics and other activities taking place at local community centers, pools and schools.
“Summer is here and we’re so excited to provide 146 programs offering a diverse range of activities, from academic enrichment to outdoor adventures,” said Anthony Munoz, recreation manager for the Community Enrichment division. “It’s a huge testament to our staff and their hard work that YPCE is able to offer these programs, many at low or no cost to Sacramento families.”
Expanded learning programs like 4th “R” introduces children to a variety of recreational activities while providing a well‐planned, nurturing environment that promotes healthy development of the child.
This program offers year-round childcare for kindergarten through sixth grade children.
The Aquatics division provides swim lessons for all ages along with free basic water safety programs. More information on individual pool hours, swim lessons, swim team, water aerobics, recreation swim and lap swim can be found here.
YPCE also offers free “Hot Spot Remix” nights at seven different community centers for teens 13-17. These events include indoor/outdoor sports, swim, movie nights, food trucks and giveaways.
Nine Hot Spot Remix events are scheduled through the end of August.
Registration for summer programs opened in May, with many currently at capacity. Programs with waitlists or open availability can be viewed on the City’s ActiveNet system.
