City of Sacramento issued the following announcement on Dec 28.
The City of Sacramento, in collaboration with local arts and culture nonprofit Sol Collective, has partnered with several local Sacramento artists and businesses to create pop-up installations across the city to help ring in 2021.
People can participate in the pop-ups by visiting Sac2021.com to find interactive digital festivities, including virtual photo galleries, a map of outdoor art pop-ups and downloadable interactive materials for Sacramento residents of all ages.
“In a year as challenging as 2020, we’re thrilled that the City of Sacramento has moved forward with Sol Collective’s #Sac2021 so that our community can still find a way to celebrate the New Year,” said Visit Sacramento President & CEO Mike Testa. “Moreover, this project is also helping to keep some of our local artists working, and creating new art installations that residents in every council district can enjoy.”
People are encouraged to take and share selfies using “#Sac2021” with virtual backgrounds as well as posting their affirmations, hopes and wishes for the coming year to share with the community.
Due to current COVID-19 safety protocols, there will be no traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks in Old Sacramento Waterfront.
