City of Sacramento issued the following announcement on Nov 16.
The City’s Sacramento Workforce Recovery program has added nine new providers to its job training and placement programs.
The programs run through Dec. 30 and includes various levels of training in different employment fields based on the individual’s needs, including general job readiness, on-the-job training, paid-internship opportunities and direct job placement. It is funded by the $89 million the City received from the federal CARES Act.
These training/placement opportunities provide local workers affected by the pandemic an opportunity for training and job placement in technology, manufacturing, construction, health care and other career fields.
“There are only six weeks left for city residents impacted by the pandemic to take advantage of these workforce programs and we encourage anyone – youth or adults – that need employment help to utilize these resources.” said Workforce Development Manager Kriztina Palone.
This new round of providers includes a culinary arts program created by Fresher Sac that will train and pay five culinary students (ages 18-23) who lost their jobs or had their culinary training discontinued in the food industry due to COVID 19.
The City also contracted with Valley Vision to provide research and analysis on COVID-19 impacts on the Sacramento Region’s workforce. The findings will inform the City and its workforce partners on how to best develop workforce investment strategies, Palone said.
