Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has reiterated her opposition to funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a series of recent social media posts.
On March 27, 2026, Matsui stated, “House Republicans are once again trying to jam through ICE and CBP funding. I could not be more clear—I have been and still am a HELL NO on any ICE and CBP funding. Period.”
The following day, she posted another message emphasizing her stance: “Tonight, Speaker Johnson made it very clear: House Republicans are more committed to ICE’s authoritarian campaign than they are to ensuring that hardworking Americans don’t miss another paycheck. Again, I voted HELL NO to funding ICE and CBP’s cruelty. I will never stop holding” (March 28, 2026).
Later that same day, Matsui added: “My message is simple: NO kings, NO fear, NO more of Trump’s authoritarian agenda. I voted HELL NO on ICE and CBP funding, period. I will not vote to fund agencies that have torn families apart, detained children, and killed innocent Americans.” (March 28, 2026).
Doris Matsui has served as the congressional representative for California’s 7th District since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento at age 78. Matsui graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.
