Rep. Doris Matsui, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 7th district since 2005, marked the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act and commented on recent constituent concerns and public library services in a series of posts on her official social media account.
On March 23, 2026, Matsui commemorated the passage of landmark health care legislation: “16 years ago today, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law—built on the simple but powerful belief that health care is a right, not a privilege. The following day, she addressed an incident involving immigration enforcement at San Francisco International Airport: “Yesterday we were informed by NorCal Resist via their Bay Area partners that the woman detained at SFO was from Sacramento. My office responded immediately. Later it was determined that the woman was not from Sacramento. Regardless of if she is my constituent—I do not trust ICE.” This statement came after advocacy groups contacted her office about a detained individual initially believed to be from her district.
Later on March 24, Matsui discussed meeting with California State Librarian Greg Lucas to highlight the role of libraries: “I had an incredible meeting with California State Librarian Greg Lucas. Our public libraries are more than essential. They are gateways to opportunity. From early learning and job training to internet access and community connection, they open doors for people at every stage of https://t.co/JBArvIJPSX”.
