Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, marked March 31 with a series of social media posts recognizing key communities and local achievements.
On March 31, 2026, Matsui posted: “Today, we honor the hardworking farmworkers who help feed our country and sustain our families. We celebrate the achievements made in advancing fair wages, safer working conditions, and greater protections.
We also recognize the women of the farmworker movement—leaders,” highlighting both general contributions and the specific role of women within the farmworker movement.
Later that day, she addressed Transgender Day of Visibility: “March 31 is Transgender Day of Visibility, a day of celebration, advocacy, and education to honor the lives and stories of trans people. Now more than ever, we must uplift trans and nonbinary people to make our collective power stronger than ever.”
In her final post on March 31, Matsui shared reflections from a local event: “I had an amazing time at Elk Grove’s State of the City! Year after year, Elk Grove proves why it is a model community—from community-focused projects and public safety to economic development, its leadership knows what it takes. I am so proud to represent such a vibrant,”
Doris Matsui has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. Matsui graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.
