Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, publicly criticized former President Donald Trump’s recent address in a series of posts on her official social media account.
On February 25, 2026, Matsui wrote, “Just a few minutes into Trump’s address and the lies are already piling up. We were told to expect unity and truth. Instead, it’s distortion, deflection, and denial. Americans deserve better than a primetime rewrite of reality.”
In another post made later that evening, she commented on Trump’s remarks regarding the Supreme Court: “Trump is talking about subverting the Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs in front of the Supreme Court. His respect for American democracy is equal to his respect for the American people. He has none.” The same night, Matsui added further criticism concerning Trump’s policies: “Trump’s delusional “winning”: Take benefits from the sick and hungry. Give tax breaks to his rich friends. You’re damn right we voted against it.”
Doris Matsui succeeded Bob Matsui in Congress in 2005 and has continuously represented California’s 7th District since then. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966.
