Rep. Doris Matsui, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, has recently used her social media platform to address legislative issues involving former President Donald Trump and government surveillance.
On April 14, 2026, Matsui stated: “I am joining my colleagues in introducing this legislation, because the 25th Amendment cannot rise or fall on whether Trump’s loyalist Cabinet has the courage to act. He is unfit to serve. Congress must enforce accountability.”
The following day, April 15, she commented on economic concerns tied to Tax Day: “This Tax Day is a reminder that while costs keep rising for working families, the only people seeing relief are the wealthy elite. Trump promised to lower costs. Instead, his agenda is making life more unaffordable for people who work hard, play by the rules and still can’t get”
Later that same day, Matsui addressed national security and surveillance: “Section 702 of FISA has enabled warrantless surveillance for too long without sufficient independent safeguards. Protecting our national security is essential, but a clean reauthorization of FISA would continue to enable the Trump administration to use the American people’s”
Doris Matsui succeeded Bob Matsui in Congress in 2005 and continues to serve as a representative for California’s 7th District. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1966.
