Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, posted a series of statements on her social media account on February 25, 2026, addressing drug pricing and recent political controversies.
In one post, Matsui challenged former President Donald Trump’s claims about drug prices: “Trump just claimed drug prices are as low as they’ve ever been. Reality check: drug prices dropping is a direct result of the real drug pricing reforms in the Inflation Reduction Act – which passed Congress without a single Republican vote.” (February 25, 2026)
She also commented on accountability regarding two murders: “Trump let Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good’s murders slide with zero accountability. He sanctioned their murders and then wonders why Congress won’t fund his authoritarian campaign.” (February 25, 2026)
In another statement, Matsui addressed broader concerns about security measures: “Targeting communities and calling it security is not protection. It is abuse of power.” (February 25, 2026)
Doris Matsui has represented California’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Bob Matsui in 2005. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. Matsui graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.
