Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, posted a series of statements on her Twitter account between May 14 and May 15, 2026, addressing recent Supreme Court decisions, immigration enforcement practices, and ongoing military actions in Iran.

On May 14, Matsui commented on the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding access to mifepristone: “The Supreme Court’s decision to preserve access to mifepristone through telehealth and mail is a victory, albeit tenuous. Reproductive care remains under direct attack across this country. This ruling offers little reassurance from courts that have repeatedly failed to fully”.

The following day, Matsui criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating on May 15: “No transparency. No due process. Just cruelty. We must tear ICE down.”

Later that same day, she addressed the ongoing conflict in Iran: “Trump’s war in Iran is hurting everyone. From farmers to small business owners, working families are paying the price for a war Congress never authorized and the American people never asked for. This war must end.”

Doris Matsui has been an active member of Congress since replacing Bob Matsui in 2005 and represents California’s capital region.[source] She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento.[source] Matsui earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966.[source]
