Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, has used her social media platform to criticize Republican approaches to health care and support for public servants and small businesses.
On October 10, 2025, Matsui posted: “Democrats are united in the fight to protect your health care. Republicans think they can mislead the public and get away with it, but the American people see what they’re really doing: raising costs and ripping away coverage. We’re not backing down.”
Later that day, she added: “Republicans have decided to punish public servants rather than negotiate a bipartisan deal that serves the American people. This display of cruelty isn’t strategic, it’s an out-of-touch abuse of power.”
On October 13, 2025, Matsui addressed local business concerns: “From Stockton Blvd. to Florin Square to Midtown, our city is a place where small businesses can flourish. But Republicans have decided that supporting our entrepreneurs and protecting their access to affordable health care is an afterthought in their pursuit of cruel, misguided”
Doris Matsui has represented California’s 7th District in Congress since succeeding Bob Matsui in 2005. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento at age 78, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1966.
