Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, has recently used her social media platform to address concerns over health care premiums and media freedom in the United States.
On September 29, 2025, Matsui posted: “Our demand is simple: prevent health care premiums from skyrocketing for millions of American families.
Yet on the eve of a shutdown, House Republicans are out of town.
Democrats are in Washington, ready to keep the government open and protect affordable health care.”
The following day, she continued her criticism of Republican actions regarding federal health programs. On September 30, 2025, she wrote: “Republicans gutted Medicaid with the biggest cut in our nation’s history. Now they’ve set their sights on the ACA tax credits that help millions afford coverage.
If they succeed, premiums will soar and families will be stuck paying thousands more.
When costs go up, it’s not by”
Later that same day, Matsui addressed issues related to media freedom and alleged censorship efforts by the Trump Administration. She stated: “From Sacramento to Washington, D.C., I am sounding the alarm on the Trump Administration’s censorship campaign and calling for the passage of my Broadcast Freedom and Independence Act.
I joined @SenBlumenthal and @SenWarren to further highlight Trump’s abuse of power.
