On May 7, 2025, Matsui criticized the budget proposals of the House GOP. The following day, on May 8, 2025, she highlighted mental health issues in America. Matsui shared that “1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year.” She encouraged those concerned about their mental health to seek help by calling or texting 988 for support during Mental Health Month.

She tweeted about the importance of Digital Equity Act grants as a means to bridge this gap: “From our children’s performance in school to finding work, the digital divide has far-reaching consequences for American families.” These grants are seen as essential tools to ensure internet access is fully utilized once available.
