Doris Matsui, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 7th district since 2005, has expressed her views on various national issues through social media. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento, Matsui graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in 1966. She succeeded Bob Matsui in Congress and has been active in addressing both economic policies and community events.

Doris Matsui commented on the economic impact of tariffs associated with what she described as “Trump’s trade war.” In her post “The victims of Trump’s trade war will be everyday Americans.” she stated that these tariffs would lead to increased costs for essential goods and groceries, suggesting that American families deserve better outcomes from such economic policies.
In another post dated February 4, 2025, Rep. Matsui shared her experience attending a citizenship ceremony in Sacramento. She expressed honor at witnessing this event: “It was an honor to congratulate 800 new Americans on their citizenship in Sacramento.” The congresswoman highlighted the occasion as a poignant reminder of America’s core values of courage and opportunity.
Additionally, Rep. Matsui reiterated her pride in being an American following the citizenship ceremony. In a tweet posted shortly after the previous one “I’ve always been proud to be an American”, she emphasized how witnessing new citizens taking their oath reinforced her dedication to upholding principles that strengthen the nation.
