Rep. Doris Matsui, a longstanding representative of California’s 7th district, has taken to social media to communicate various initiatives and concerns. Matsui has been an active member of U.S. Congress since 2005, taking over from Bob Matsui. Born in Poston, Arizona, she now resides in Sacramento and holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.

On April 16, Rep. Matsui announced an event hosted by the City of Sacramento and the Tri Counties Bank. “Join the @TheCityofSac and the @TriCountiesBank on April 17 for a seminar on how to detect scammers who prey on seniors,” she tweeted. The seminar, aimed at educating seniors on recognizing scams, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Senior Hart Center.

In a subsequent post on April 18, Matsui expressed concerns about the impact of leadership on the medical supply chain, stating, “Patients and our medical supply chain cannot afford to be a prop for a rogue president that values his ‘instincts’ over measured and equitable policy.” She warned of potentially “serious and deadly consequences” from supply chain disruptions.

Later on the same day, Matsui addressed a threat to AmeriCorps in a tweet, noting, “For 30 years, @AmeriCorps has given Americans a way to serve — tutoring kids, helping families, rebuilding communities. It’s patriotism in action.” She criticized efforts by Donald Trump and Elon Musk to dismantle the organization, mentioning her intent to introduce unspecified measures in response.
