Matsui replaced former Congressman Bob Matsui in 2005 and continues to actively engage with her constituents through social media.
On January 31, 2025, Rep. Matsui emphasized the importance of public television and radio for local communities. She stated that “The FCC must not be weaponized to intimidate and silence broadcast media.” She urged support for these outlets due to their contributions to journalism and the marketplace of ideas.
Later that day, she joined Covered California in celebrating a record number of enrollees through the health insurance exchange program. She noted “From affordable health care to coverage that includes mental and behavioral health services — the ACA is incredible.” This message coincided with the final day for enrollment sign-ups.
On February 1, 2025, Rep. Matsui highlighted the significance of diversity and equal opportunity in leadership roles during a celebration event for newly elected women leaders in her region. She expressed gratitude towards the Sacramento County Commission on Women and Girls by stating “It was fantastic celebrating our region’s newly elected women leaders!”
