Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several issues on her social media account, ranging from public health funding to agricultural policy and federal accountability.
On February 13, 2026, Matsui criticized a decision by RFK Jr. regarding public health funding. She wrote, “RFK Jr.’s choice to cut $600 million in public health funding intended for California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota isn’t arbitrary. It’s an attack. I led 77 of my colleagues in demanding this funding be reinstated immediately.”
Later that day, Matsui discussed her engagement with the rice industry in California. In a post published at 23:00 UTC on February 13, she stated, “It was so great meeting with @RiceNews to talk about protecting and growing California’s rice industry. I grew up on a farm, and I’ll keep bringing that perspective to my work supporting rice growers and Sacramento Valley communities.”
On February 14, 2026, Matsui commented on actions taken by federal officials. She posted, “Republicans could hold DHS Secretary Noem and ICE accountable for their inhumane and unconstitutional actions, but they are once again choosing to serve one man instead of the American people.”
Doris Matsui has served as a member of Congress since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento at age 78, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley (source: Doris Matsui biography).
