Rep. Doris Matsui, who has represented California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, recently addressed several issues through her social media posts, ranging from military leadership to community health initiatives and veterans’ care.
On March 11, 2026, Matsui criticized Pete Hegseth’s leadership and financial decisions in a tweet: “Pete Hegseth blew his credibility long before he was appointed to his position. Now, he’s blown your money on complete nonsense. This is why I have never had faith in Hegseth to support our troops or keep us safe. He needs to go.”
The following day, March 12, she expressed support for local organizations aiding survivors of sexual harm: “Proud to stand with Communities Against Sexual Harm (CASH) and the Sierra Health Foundation as they strengthen survivor-led care in our community.
For years, CASH has been a beacon for women and girls who have endured the unimaginable. Their trauma-informed work restores agency”.
Later on March 12, Matsui commented on national defense policy and veterans’ services under the Trump administration: “As Trump plunges us into war, his administration’s cuts have thrown the VA mental health care system into disarray.
Sending our troops into endless wars without ensuring they have a strong support system through the VA back home is a failure on top of a failure.
‘Support our”.
Doris Matsui succeeded Bob Matsui in Congress after his passing in 2005 and has maintained her seat since then. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. Matsui earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966.
