Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted her continued oversight of ICE facilities and federal investments in Sacramento through a series of social media posts.

On August 28, 2025, Matsui wrote: “Today, I returned to once again conduct congressional oversight of the ICE facilities at the John E. Moss Federal Building. This time with Mayor Pro Tem @EricZGuerra, County Supervisor @PhilSernaSac, and California Immigration Project advocates to demand answers and transparency.”

Later that day, she added: “Thank you to Mayor Pro Tem @EricZGuerra and County Supervisor @PhilSernaSac for joining me in standing up for our neighbors. Their continued leadership and partnership will be paramount in making sure ICE can’t hide.

Sacramento will stand together. We have no tolerance for”

The following day, on August 29, Matsui addressed federal funding for local parks: “One of my top priorities in Washington D.C. is to ensure that federal investments don’t just live on paper – they make a real, tangible difference here at home.

That’s why I was proud to help secure more than $3 million for Heritage Oaks Park. Parks are more than green space –”

Doris Matsui has served as a member of Congress since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. Matsui graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.

Sacramento repairs more than 7,700 potholes in less than 50 days

Sacramento officials announced that over 7,700 potholes were repaired in just under seven weeks during a recent citywide effort led by City Manager Maraskeshia Smith. Crews addressed priority locations identified by both council offices and residents.
