Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of issues on her social media account between May 13 and May 14, 2026, focusing on energy policy, Medicaid funding, and inflation.
On May 13, Matsui highlighted concerns about energy reliability for Sacramento residents. She wrote, “Sacramento families deserve reliable power and lower utility bills. Today, I questioned energy experts about how we can build an energy grid that moves power more efficiently, prevents outages and keeps costs down. Here in Sacramento, we know the value of public utilities”.
Later that day, she addressed healthcare coverage in California with another post: “Over 14 million Californians rely on Medicaid – including millions of kids, seniors in nursing homes, people with disabilities, and hardworking families. This isn’t fiscal responsibility – it’s cruelty, especially after Republicans cut billions from MediCal in Trump’s Big Ugly”.
On May 14, Matsui commented on rising inflation rates and attributed them to recent policy decisions: “The massive jump in wholesale inflation is fueled by Trump’s illegal tariffs and just as illegal war of choice in Iran. Americans will continue to pay even more as producers mark up prices to cover their bottom line. He doesn’t care. Don’t take my word for it. He said it himself”.
Doris Matsui has served as the representative for California’s 7th District since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento at age 78, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1966).
