Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of national issues in a series of tweets posted on March 26, 2026.
In one tweet, Matsui criticized former President Donald Trump’s stance on mail-in voting, stating on March 26, 2026: “Trump says voting by mail was okay for him because he’s the president. That is the problem. He thinks being president puts him above YOU. It doesn’t.”
Later that evening, Matsui commented on regulatory procedures regarding an unspecified merger and the actions of Chairman Carr. She wrote at 22:44 UTC: “The law isn’t partisan. It’s the law, and Chairman Carr must follow it. This merger must go before the full commission. Chairman Carr needs to stop playing games, stop slow rolling the process, and name a date for a vote. Acting like he alone gets to decide is not leadership.”
On Equal Pay Day, Matsui also drew attention to wage disparities faced by women in the United States. In her post from 23:09 UTC she stated: “Women take 15 months to earn what men make in just 12. We shouldn’t have to work longer, harder, or prove more just to receive fair pay. The wage gap in our country is unacceptable—and it continues to grow.
I’m proud to stand with the DWC this Equal Pay Day, and I will keep”
Doris Matsui has served as a member of Congress since replacing Bob Matsui in 2005 and currently resides in Sacramento after being born in Poston, Arizona in 1944.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966.
