Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on her official Twitter account addressing both constituent services and national politics.
On February 23, 2026, Matsui announced that her staff would be available to assist constituents at a local community event: “My staff will be holding office hours at Meals on Wheels Yolo County this Wednesday from 11am-12pm! If you need any assistance with a federal agency, please let us serve you!”
The following day, Matsui criticized former President Donald Trump’s political approach and priorities. On February 24, she wrote: “Donald Trump’s priorities start and end with himself. This moment doesn’t call for polite applause lines or political theater. It calls for courage. It calls for resistance. And it calls for standing up for the people we were sent here to serve.”
Later that evening, as Trump prepared to deliver the State of the Union address, Matsui posted another message regarding his leadership: “Trump will spend tonight’s State of the Union address trying to sell his delusional vision for America. The reality is, he’s been a disaster. I won’t give him the attention he wants.”
Doris Matsui has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree.
