The Meadowview Certified Farmers Market will reopen on May 3, offering expanded access to fresh food, local vendors, and community activities in the Meadowview neighborhood.

The grand reopening event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meadowview Light Rail Station at 3501 Meadowview Road. Alchemist Community Development Corporation will operate the market. The celebration will include free face painting, health screenings, a bike repair clinic by Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, and live entertainment such as an 11 a.m. dance performance by Nostalgias de México and music from DJ MK Mobile Music.

Funding for the market was secured by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen through the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and Councilmember Mai Vang are managing the market in collaboration with other partners.

“The reopening of the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market is a meaningful moment for South Sacramento, especially for the Meadowview community,” said Mai Vang. “This market continues to be a space where people come together and have access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant food. We invite folks from across the city to come out, support our local vendors, and spend time in a community space that reflects the heart of Meadowview.”

This season’s offerings include farm-fresh produce from Red Boot Ranch, Golden Honeybees, Mae Baan Farm, McGee Family Farm; prepared foods from Mama Vang’s; baked goods from Wheat Ridge Baking Co.; beverages from Luna Cafe; among others. The market operates every Sunday through October 25 regardless of weather conditions and is seeking more vendors.

CalFresh/EBT benefits are accepted at the market along with Market Match nutrition incentives that match up to $15 each week in EBT benefits. A new Kids Bucks program provides children aged twelve or younger with a $5 voucher each week for eligible agricultural products such as fruits or vegetables; vouchers must be used on their day of issue.

Sacramento Regional Transit will offer free rides on May 3 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., available with presentation of either printed or digital flyers.
