Doris Matsui, currently serving in the U.S. Congress as a representative for California’s 7th district, has shared insights through a series of tweets encompassing federal budget cuts, federal assistance programs, and political evaluations of the presidential administration on the social media platform, X.
On April 29, Matsui criticized federal budget reductions, stating: “From cutting around 1,200 jobs at @NIH to cancelling hundreds of millions of dollars in active research grants— the Administration’s attacks on basic science and public health impact ALL of us. We are at risk of losing a whole generation of scientists and jeopardizing our”.
The following day, on April 30, Matsui commended the support provided by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), referencing the essential services it offers to vulnerable populations. She noted: “The @ACLgov provides crucial support for so many older Americans and people with disabilities in Sacramento, and nationwide. It keeps our most vulnerable fed through @_MealsOnWheels, it keeps them protected against abuse and neglect, and it allows seniors and people with”.
In another post on the same day, Matsui assessed the Trump Administration’s first 100 days, indicating dissatisfaction with its performance, describing it as a period characterized by disorder. She remarked: “The Trump Administration’s first 100 days have been defined by chaos and cruelty. @realDonaldTrump’s attempts to consolidate power, upend the Constitution, and destroy progress have made life harder and more unpredictable for millions of Americans. Now, the next 100 days will”.
Doris Matsui, age 78, was born in Poston, Arizona, in 1944, and resides in Sacramento. She succeeded her late husband, Bob Matsui, and has been serving in Congress since 2005. A University of California, Berkeley graduate, she holds a BA degree earned in 1966.
