The City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) responded to 612 calls for service and engaged with people experiencing homelessness from March 23 to March 29, according to an April 3 update. The team also visited 685 unique locations during this period.
The ongoing work aims to address homelessness in the Central City through a combination of outreach, services, and enforcement. This effort is intended to keep downtown areas clean, safe, and accessible for businesses, residents, and visitors.
According to the city report, Department of Community Response (DCR) teams conduct early morning deployments throughout downtown Sacramento. They respond directly to community concerns and address conditions in public spaces by connecting individuals experiencing crisis with services and resources.
The DCR maintains a balanced approach that includes outreach activities as well as cleanup operations and enforcement of city laws. “Together, these activities support a downtown environment where economic activity, cultural events and daily use of public spaces can continue without disruption,” the report said.
Partnerships are highlighted as an important part of this strategy. Coordination with groups such as the Downtown Sacramento Partnership helps align daily operations across the Central City so that maintenance efforts are consistent throughout high-traffic areas.
The IMT’s key activities during the reporting period included responding to service requests through the city’s 311 system, conducting outreach placements into shelter options available as of March 31, providing environmental services related to cleanup efforts, and offering additional information about their work.
