Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, has recently posted several statements on social media addressing issues of law enforcement accountability, military oversight, and government transparency.
On January 9, 2026, Matsui criticized public commentary regarding the Minneapolis shooting investigation: “JD Vance claiming the officer involved in the Minneapolis shooting has absolute immunity is absurd. You can’t pretend accountability does not exist. Propaganda is not a legal argument. There MUST be a transparent and independent investigation.” She further referenced leadership at federal agencies, stating, “DHS and the FBI are led by”.
Later that day, she addressed concerns about military intervention in Venezuela: “I am co-sponsoring the Venezuela War Powers Resolution. It is imperative that we prevent a rogue administration from abusing our military power for its own interests and undermining our leadership before the damage becomes irreversible. Our military capabilities exist to ensure”.
On January 10, 2026, Matsui commented on calls for impeachment proceedings against Kristi Noem: “I will support the impeachment of Kristi Noem. She has been a complete and destructive failure as DHS Secretary. Our nation demands that our justice system is carried out transparently and in accordance with the constitution. She has failed to do that at every turn. It’s past”.
Matsui’s remarks reflect her ongoing advocacy for governmental transparency and constitutional adherence in both domestic law enforcement matters and foreign policy decisions.
Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento, Doris Matsui has built her career on public service since taking office following Bob Matsui’s tenure in Congress. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (BA 1966), she continues to represent California’s capital region on national issues.
