Rep. Doris Matsui, who represents California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform over Labor Day weekend to express support for unions and workplace rights, as well as to call for transparency regarding the Epstein files.

On September 1, 2025, Matsui posted: “Happy Labor Day! Our unions are the backbone of Sacramento’s progress.

Supporting strong unions, workplace rights and safety, protecting collective bargaining, and making sure working families are healthy is always a focus in everything I do. I will always fight for our unions.”

The following day, on September 2, 2025, she highlighted a local event with another post: “Every year, the Sacramento Central Labor Council’s Annual Labor Day Picnic brings us together to celebrate with the workers and families who keep our community moving.

On September 3, 2025, Matsui shifted focus to a national issue by stating: “I signed Reps. Massie and Khanna’s discharge petition to force a binding vote requiring the release of the Epstein files. The survivors deserve justice. The public deserves transparency.

Doris Matsui has represented California’s 7th District in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Bob Matsui. She was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. Matsui earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966.
