Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, recently highlighted legislative and community efforts through a series of posts on her social media account.
On April 17, 2026, Matsui announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at increasing transparency in the pharmaceutical supply chain. She stated, “I just introduced a bill to give the FDA, health care providers, and the public more transparency into where prescription drugs and their key ingredients are actually made so we can better prevent drug shortages. When a patient can’t get the medicine they need, nothing else”.
Later that day, Matsui described her meeting with educational leaders in California. She wrote on April 17, 2026: “I had an excellent meeting with the California School Boards Association. Our commitment to students and future generations is fundamental to our work. I am grateful for our partnership as we navigate an administration that seeks to undermine education and the critical resources https://t.co/U6SHLNHRNH”.
On April 18, 2026, she addressed regional flood risks in her district and federal funding efforts: “We sit at the confluence of two major rivers—one of the most flood-prone regions in the country. While others may forget past floods, we don’t. I’ve fought to bring back billions in federal funding to strengthen our system and protect our communities. With a coordinated https://t.co/pKkju0DtSV”.
Matsui has served as a member of Congress since replacing Bob Matsui in 2005 and represents an area known for its vulnerability to flooding due to its location at the intersection of two major rivers. Born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently residing in Sacramento, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
