Doris Matsui discusses U.S. leadership on 6G and addresses farmworker movement allegations

Rep. Doris Matsui, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 7th district since 2005, recently used her social media platform to discuss the future of wireless communications and comment on new allegations in the farmworker movement.

On March 18, 2026, Matsui participated in a conversation with POLITICO about advances in wireless technology. She wrote, “Today I joined @POLITICO for a conversation on the future of our wireless communications networks. 6G will transform how we connect with each other and the world around us. The economic and national security stakes in the global race to lead this technology couldn’t be higher.”

Later that day, she outlined policy priorities for American leadership in next-generation networks. On March 18, 2026, Matsui stated: “The U.S. should be cementing our 6G leadership. We need to play a leading role in setting international 6G standards. This means: A plan for the diverse range of 6G uses Strengthening the supply chain and protect against cybersecurity threats Ensuring our federal”

In a separate post on March 18, 2026, Matsui addressed recent abuse allegations involving Cesar Chavez within the farmworker movement: “The farmworker movement has always stood for dignity, justice, and the protection of the most vulnerable. That mission must guide us now. The allegations of abuse by Cesar Chavez that have come forward are deeply painful. We must listen to survivors with humility and”

Doris Matsui was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and has lived much of her life in Sacramento. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley (1966). Since taking office after Bob Matsui’s passing in 2005, she has been an advocate for technological innovation and labor rights.
