Rep. Doris Matsui, who has represented California’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, addressed a range of policy and community issues in a series of tweets posted on May 27, 2026.

In her first post of the day, Matsui criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to national leadership, stating, “Every day, it becomes more clear that Trump has no plan, no strategy, and no regard for the consequences. His recklessness will leave us more broke, less safe, and locked into his illegal war of choice.” (May 27, 2026).

Later that afternoon, Matsui highlighted legislative progress on two bills she authored: “Two of my bills advanced out of @EnergyCommerce last week to reduce families’ exposure to harmful chemicals in their cars and help more patients find lifesaving stem cell matches. This is how we keep delivering for Sacramento: better, safer standards, stronger patient access” (May 27, 2026).

That evening, Matsui acknowledged local leaders during an event welcoming House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar to Sacramento: “Thank you to my good friends Councilmember Sergio Robles and Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Cathy Rodriguez for helping me welcome House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar to Sacramento for an important conversation about the challenges facing our Hispanic” (May 27, 2026).

Doris Matsui was born in Poston, Arizona in 1944 and currently resides in Sacramento. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in 1966. Matsui succeeded Bob Matsui as representative for California’s 7th District after his passing in early 2005.
