Rep. Doris Matsui, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 7th District, recently expressed concerns on social media regarding energy policies under the current administration. Her statements focus on issues related to federal funding and energy projects in the United States.
On February 5, 2025, Rep. Matsui addressed a hearing by the Energy and Commerce Committee that was purportedly focused on “unleashing American energy.” In her post, she argued that “the truth is far from it.” She criticized President Biden for allegedly freezing funding for energy projects, threatening tariffs on critical inputs, and blocking solar development on federal lands.
Continuing her critique into the following day, February 6, 2025, Rep. Matsui and her fellow Ranking Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee called for accountability from previous administrations. She emphasized that “The American people deserve answers” regarding what she described as “reckless actions” involving withheld federal funding during former President Trump’s tenure.
Later that same day, Rep. Matsui took to social media again as Co-Chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC). She condemned President Biden’s actions as an “illegal freeze” on federal programs aimed at reducing energy costs for Americans. Rep. Matsui asserted that these measures were akin to “stealing from the American people.”
