Rep. Doris Matsui, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 7th district, has recently expressed her views on various legislative and political issues through a series of tweets. Matsui, who succeeded Bob Matsui in 2005, continues to be an active voice in Congress.

On March 5, 2025, Rep. Matsui shared her support for molecular diagnostics in cancer treatment. She emphasized the importance of these diagnostics in ensuring timely targeted therapies for cancer patients and announced her co-authorship of the Finn Sawyer Access to Cancer Testing Act. “Molecular diagnostics help ensure cancer patients get the targeted therapies they need in a timely manner, potentially improving outcomes for all cancer patients.”

The following day, March 6, 2025, she voiced concerns over President Trump’s actions regarding independent agencies like the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She described his moves as an “unprecedented power grab,” highlighting FERC’s role in regulating electricity costs affecting millions of Americans. “I’m gravely concerned by President Trump’s unprecedented power grab to exert control over independent agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).”

Later that day, Rep. Matsui addressed what she termed as “bullying tactics” by Donald Trump against media organizations such as NPR and PBS via the FCC. To counteract this perceived threat to media independence, she announced collaboration with Senator Lujan on new legislation aimed at protecting media from government interference. “The weaponization of the @FCC to launch baseless attacks on @NPR and @PBS show exactly the bullying tactics Donald Trump will use to censor dissent.”
