The City of Sacramento announced on April 24 that its Incident Management Team responded to a significant number of calls for service related to homelessness, including a major operation at a large encampment in North Sacramento.

The announcement highlights ongoing efforts by city staff and partner agencies to address homelessness through outreach, service connection, and enforcement of city ordinances. These actions are part of the city’s broader response to concerns from residents and businesses about the impact of unsheltered homelessness on neighborhoods.

Between April 13 and April 19, the Incident Management Team handled 640 calls for service across 512 unique locations. One notable effort took place at the 1900 block of Marconi Circle, where staff from the Department of Community Response, the Sacramento Police Department’s IMPACT Team, County behavioral health specialists, and navigators from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs coordinated outreach over three weeks. During this period, they engaged with people experiencing homelessness in an attempt to connect them with services and shelter options while ensuring compliance with local laws.

In addition to outreach activities, cleanup crews removed approximately 25 cubic yards of refuse from the Marconi Circle area through FS Global, one of the city’s contracted partners. The report also notes ongoing data collection regarding service requests through Sacramento’s “311” system as well as information about shelter availability as of April 21.

The city’s update underscores continued efforts to provide both support services for individuals experiencing homelessness and environmental maintenance throughout affected neighborhoods.
