The City of Sacramento announced on Apr. 30 that hospitality and nighttime businesses are invited to a ‘Stop the Bleed’ training scheduled for Thursday, May 7, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The event is organized in partnership with the City’s Office of Nighttime Economy and UC Davis Health.

The purpose of this training is to provide essential emergency response skills that can help control severe bleeding during critical situations. Organizers say these skills are important for improving safety within the community.

The session will take place at 300 Richards Blvd., Room 221, with free on-site parking available. Space is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged by contacting nighttime@cityofsacramento.org.

Trauma nurse practitioners, nurses, and physicians from UC Davis Health will lead the free session. Attendees will learn how to apply tourniquets, pack wounds, and use direct pressure—techniques designed for emergencies or when immediate medical help may be delayed.

“Building a vibrant nightlife requires collaboration and education,” said Tina Lee-Vogt, the City’s Nighttime Economy Manager. “Providing life-saving skills is vital for ensuring a safer, more confident community that is prepared to respond in emergencies.”

According to the City’s announcement, various other training sessions are also offered throughout the year to support safe operations in hospitality and nighttime businesses. More information about upcoming trainings can be found on the City’s website.
