CMS rated Arden Park Post Acute at 3 out of 5 overall, which is lower than California’s nursing home average rating of 3.2.
Windsor El Camino Care Center topped the list as Sacramento County’s largest nursing home that quarter with 178 beds, while Bruceville Terrace – D/P SNF of Methodist Hospital ranked third with 171 beds.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the population of older adults in the United States continues to rise as younger age groups decline. The period from 2020 to 2024 saw a 13% increase in residents age 65 and older and a 1.7% decrease for those under 18. The nation’s older adult population has expanded substantially in the past 100 years, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 analysis found that nearly half of this age group—close to 28 million people—are expected to require long-term services and supports. The report also estimates that more than one-third could ultimately need nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, said. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
