In an effort to foster outdoor dining, the City will be hosting a free informational workshop on July 11 to talk through the Al Fresco outdoor dining process, how to obtain permits and how to apply for up to $20,000 in reimbursable grants.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 11 from 2 to 3 p.m. at 300 Richards Blvd., Room DS-R22. Those interested in attending need to RSVP here.

“Since the permanent program was approved last year, 33 business have submitted applications to permit their Al Fresco patios, making the transition from temporary structures to permanent,” said Public Works Director Matt Eierman. “We encourage all businesses wanting to learn more about the process to participate in outdoor dining and grant funding available to attend this workshop.”

Participants will gain a better understanding of the roles of various City departments, learn the difference in process between public right of way (like sidewalks) and private parking lots, learn how to submit and obtain the correct permits and how to apply for the grant funding.

Grant deadline extended to Sept. 30

The City has extended the deadline for outdoor dining grants of up to $20,000 to Sept. 30.

Funded through the federal American Rescue Plan, the Al Fresco grant program provides reimbursable grants to support the cost of building or expanding a permanent outdoor dining patio or sidewalk café within the public right-of-way or on a private parking lot.
